Project Summary
- Category: Software Project Management
- Client: Internal | Operations Dept
- Project date: February, 2022
- Problem: Our Asset Dept was losing too much money to client refunds and destroyed product. They had too much inventory and didn't know what order to process anything in.
Problem
None of our 8 warehouses could identify or track which assets were reaching processing deadlines (based on contract SLA's). We were forced to give thousands in FMV refunds to our clients & destroy profitable assets as a result.
Warehouses were constantly printing out paper spreadsheets and missing SLA deadlines, upsetting our customers.
This created lost revenue and increased risk companywide that was easy to identify.
Solution
I made a new page in our operations software where our ITAD dept could see a dynamic table of all assets. This table was sortable by any column, specifically: SLA Days Remaining.
We had existing page and table design standards so no design mockups were needed. I drafted a page wireframe and project details document. I created a project Feature and PBI's within Azure DevOps for our overseas development team. I held consistent status updates with the developers.
The project was conceptualized, developed, tested, and deployed within 6 weeks.
Results
Increased processing efficiency 5-10%
Estimated cost savings of $150,000 annually
The tool I had developed
- Eliminated a 1,400 asset backlog in just our 1st warehouse deployment
- Reduced our Open Jobs 75%
- Increased our billable line items, & subsequent revenue
- Lets us invoice clients more accurately, faster, and with less risk
- Reduces Management overhead in our ITAD dept
